Our second week of training took place at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City. We were able to stay with Marilyn's mother, which was very convenient.
We were surprised at how complex the camera setup is and found the training interesting and challenging. Essentially it is a high resolution digital camera mounted on a special framework over a table upon which the documents to be photographed are placed. Special lighting is mounted above on each side to illuminate the documents.
The missionary volunteers and trainers were very helpful and patient. The entire Records Preservation section is part of the Family History Department of the Church. As part of our training, we spent some time actually uploading several of our parents' life stories and pictures to FamilySearch.org.
