Since our first mission in 2003 - 2005 in Guatemala, we have wanted to serve another one. This became a possibility in March, 2013 when my mother, Josephine Oxborrow, who was 98, passed away.
However, there were many matters to take care of before we could leave our home in Mesquite and our now-vacant mother's home. Once we decided to submit our papers to serve a mission, the Lord opened the way by resolving many of the issues.
We received our call in October, 2013 to serve in the Peru Cusco Mission as Records Preservation Specialists, reporting to the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Provo, UT on February 3, 2014. In the meantime, vaccinations, shoulder surgery, and a myriad of other details needed to be taken care of.
Finally, on February 1, we loaded 6 suitcases in our Honda Accord and headed for Provo.
